The upper Squamish River is covered in snow. There is a lot of ice in the river and in slow moving areas the river has completely frozen over. Char and rainbows when active will be feeding on sculpins and dead salmon flesh. Egg patterns will still work with pale patterns being the better producers.

It's just too difficult to compete with the big boys. After all, why would anyone pay more for fishing equipment when they can just head to Wal-Mart and get it for pennies? That's the Wal-Mart way. Purchase it all from China and put all American workers out of business. Old Wal wasn't such a good guy after all. Anyway, one aspect of enjoying your annual fishing adventure is quality fishing equipment. You want a pole that puts the old Huck Finn rod to shame.
